The fuel pressure sensor is used in the direct injection system. This part does not have a defined service life.
Important information about the fuel pressure sensor
- There are a few symptoms indicating a potential problem with a fuel pressure sensor. In fact, your vehicle can experience performance issues, such as decrease in power, difficulty when starting, increased fuel consumption, unstable engine operation at idle. These symptoms may also indicate the failure of other components of the systems. It is therefore recommended to have the device diagnosed at a repair shop.
- A new fuel pressure sensor should only be installed at a car repair shop, as working on the fuel system poses a fire hazard and requires specialist tools such as snap ring pliers.
- A new fuel pressure sensor should be ordered as soon as possible after a malfunction is diagnosed. Keep in mind that a faulty sensor negatively affects the fuel efficiency and acceleration dynamics of the vehicle.
- The service life of this part can be extended by using high-quality fuel and by replacing the fuel filter in a timely manner. Even slight contamination of the device can cause it to jam. The required frequency of replacing the fuel filter depends not only on its type, e.g. primary or fine, but also on what kind of fuel is used. For instance, fine filters for petrol should be replaced at least every 20,000 to 30,000 km.
