Ignition coils are devices that convert low voltage into high for the operation of spark plugs. They are to be replaced after every 110,000 - 140,000 km of mileage.
What you should know about ignition coils replacement
- Failure of this unit affects the operation of the engine. For example, it may operate jerkily, and react slowly when the accelerator pedal is pressed. Fuel consumption grows, while the power of the engine, on the contrary, drops.
- Regardless of the type of the component installed in your vehicle, all work should be performed at a service station: only professionals are allowed to work with the vehicle electric system. For example, if your car has a single coil, you will have to deal with high voltage wires. Individual coils are connected directly to spark plugs, but their dismantling requires a special puller.
- Always try to buy ignition coils together with spark plugs, high voltage wires, and a distributor cap, if necessary. Replacing all these elements will ensure a stable operation of the ignition system for a long time.
- For the coils to last longer, buy and replace spark plugs in time. Regularly check if the coils are securely attached. Keep the engine in proper condition.
