Cabin filters are intended for cleaning the air coming to the vehicle interior. It efficiently traps dust, products of fuel and oil combustion, neutralizes harmful micro-organisms and allergens, and chemical reagents. The filters are to be replaced every six months, usually in early spring and autumn, or after 15,000 – 20,000 km of mileage.
What you should know about replacing the cabin filter
- The first symptom of component clogging is an unpleasant odour in the passenger compartment. In addition, pollution of the filtering element leads to disruption of the air circulation, which may cause window fogging up. If the component integrity is violated, dust may accumulate on the dashboard and other interior elements, and dark deposits — on the windows.
- Procedure for the installation of new car parts depends on their location: some components should be accessed from the engine bay, others — from the passenger compartment. In some cars, a filtering element is a single unit with the housing. In other cars, only the cartridge may be replaced. In this case, the housing should be vacuum-cleaned.
- You can easily install the component yourself. During installation, it is important to install the car part in the correct position. This requires aligning the arrow on the cartridge with the direction of the airflow entering the vehicle.
- Along with replacement of the car part, it is desirable to blow the vent channels with air: they may also accumulate dust.
- Only high-quality components can efficiently clean the air entering the vehicle for a long time. Therefore, we recommend buying cabin filters in our online shop. Also, to prolong the service life of the component, you may clean it with compressed air once in a while, or shake the dust out. At the same time, it is not recommended to wash the component. Such a measure is inefficient and unreasonable since new components in our catalogue are inexpensive.
